Getting the game running
These run in the order a client fails, from having nothing to click through to a game that plays. Read down until you reach the one that matches what you saw.
There is no game to launch in my client folder
The FULL CLIENT download is game data only. It ships no executable on purpose, so you choose which one to run.
- Open the RAGEXE tab on the same gate and install it. That is the community 2025-07-16 executable, unpatched: run it through the WARP tab (Select Recommended) before you play.
- Already have your own executable? The WARP tab patches that one the same way.
Windows or my antivirus blocked it
WARPGATE and the game executable carry no code signature, so SmartScreen warns the first time you run either one and a few antivirus engines quarantine the game executable on sight. Neither means the download went wrong.
- On the SmartScreen prompt choose More info, then Run anyway.
- If your antivirus removed a file, restore it and add your gate folder to that program's exclusion list, or it will take the file again on the next scan.
- Then press VERIFY on the tab that installed it. WARPGATE re-downloads only what is missing or damaged, not the whole client.
Nothing happens when I double-click it
The client reads its display settings before it draws anything. With no settings written yet it reads nothing and exits without ever opening a window.
- Run
opensetup.exefrom your client folder. It ships with every client WARPGATE installs. - Pick a resolution, press Apply, then start the game again. That one step is usually the whole fix.
- Run the game from inside the client folder, not from a copy you moved to the desktop. It needs
data.grfand thedatafolder beside it.
A message says a .dll is missing
The client is built against Microsoft's Visual C++ runtimes and DirectX. Windows ships neither in full, and the file the message names tells you which one you are short of.
- WARPGATE checks for these before every client install and, if any is missing, shows a notice naming the files with the same two links below. Seeing this message anyway means the notice was dismissed, a runtime install did not finish (some want a restart), or the client did not come through WARPGATE.
- Install both packages, in this order, then restart your computer. Installing the pair covers it whichever file was named.
It opens, then crashes
If you patched the executable yourself, a patch is the usual cause. WARP applies dozens at once and one bad one takes the whole client down. Find it by cutting back to the set we test, then adding your extras back in rounds.
- WARP writes a new copy every time and never touches the executable you gave it, so you can run through this as often as you need to.
- Still crashing on the recommended set alone? Then it is not your patches. Work through the other entries here first.
- The WARP tab's walkthrough in the app shows where each of these buttons is.
The game runs, but everything is in Korean
The client ships kRO's own files. English is a separate install that keeps its own schedule, which is how it stays current without re-downloading the game.
- Open the LANG tab on the same gate, choose Renewal or Pre-Renewal to match your server, and install it. It overlays your client's
datafolder and keeps any file you edited yourself.
